Alright I have a 99Z28, just installed LPP headers. I have poly motor mounts and a tranny mount. The drivers side headers sits against motor mount. HAve any of you had this problem and how did you fix it. I took my air grinder and took some metal off the motor mount but it really didnt help.

solid engine mount on that side? they tend to be less bulky.

i mean...shy of denting the primary...what CAN you do?


sounds like the LPP's are not all they're cracked up to be.

Mine was resting there also when I installed them. Its still resting there now....

I have sent an email to LPP to see what I should do. I dont think the relations ship of the block to the motor mount should be any different on any car.

Do you think it will change any thing with the car of the ground? Maybe the tranny will shift up a bit and tilt the engine once the torque arm moves?

try loosening the header bolts, take a jack and push up alittle(do not force them) then retighten the header bolts (with jack holding them up). I have LPP's with stock motor mounts and have no problems with mine.

We had a few sets do that.We just used a torch and sledge and clearanced the header tube.(we did not/will not sell them -owners supplied them)

I had to use a torch, a huge screwdriver, and a hammer to make enough clearance.

I had the same problem. The problem was mostly do to them not being adjusted properly. But, if yours are indeed installed properly then take it back off heat it up and dimple the primary with a hammer it probably doesn't need much to clear.

Im going to try adjusting them. I just fired it up. Its been down for a month doing motor mounts, clutch hydraulics and a clutch. Sounds alot different

I have poly mounts too but did not have any fitment issues. I hope you can get it fixed quickly and easily!

Pretty much every thing is made in china.

So I fixed the problem, just put the jack under the collector and tightened the bolts.

I actually just took it out for a spin. My factory y pipe always had a problem of scraping pulling out of my garage, I just pulled out and the new y pipe didnt scrape, overall I am happy.

These headers and y have 5 bungs, one for wideband, LPP is going to send me a plug for one of them that I dont need, pretty darn good customer service if you ask me.

I had the same issue on the drivers side. Hammer solved that problem. It didn't take much to make them clear.

I would recommend them ramairjohn2000. For the money they are hard to beat. I was too cheap to buy ARH

Here are my thoughts on the headers:

- Once there on they fit great.
- they tuck great
- you will have to grind the tab off the block
- you will have to grind the k member
- The drivers side header rests on the motor mount, I pushed mine up now so its like a 1/8" between the header and mount
- They come with paper gaskets, u bolt exhaust clamps
- I needed 3 o2 extensions


Total prices

$800 headers
$100 for gaskets and 2 oz extension and locking bolts
$25 for the 3rd 02 extension
$40 for 3 3" exhaust band clamps

So $965for the headers

I say they are worth it but I am not sure if I am going to lose horsepower by not going with ARH or Kooks. The quality is great and I am happy with how they tuck.

I am not quite sure what ARH or Kooks come with but I never figured in the gaskets, bolts and o2 extension but it still didnt cost me $1000.

I'm not sure I quite understand how a header that requires all of the above modifications is worth it when there are others that don't have any of these issues. The extra money alone would be worth not having to go through all that crap...at least for me.

If I had to do it again, I would go ARH but it wasnt that bad to do a little grinding to save over $700.

This included, new gaskets, bolts and O2 extensions

They fit great now and I can use the extra money to buy my cam
