Default What kind of cam?!

Ok guys. I just bought a 99 Z28 6 speed. It's got longtube headers, 3 in. catless exhaust, ls6 manifold with ported/polished tb, slp intake, and an ecu tune. First time owning an LS1. Need help figuring out what kind of cam to get. I want one that produces a good bit of power but I don't want to sacrifice for a rough idle. A semi-rogh/medium idle is ok though. Any suggestions? Also, Is there a better manifold than the ls6 that makes a big enough difference that i should get? Any help would be appreciated!

Start calling some of the LS1TECH sponsors and let them know you want/don't want( be honest and you'll be happier with the cam you get), and compile a list of what they recommend, then go back and make a choice.

Good luck with you choice!

tr230/comp228/patriot custom(cheaper)(225.229 i believe).....custom cams are good too, id do something around that size, which brand is a whole different question which honestly is personal preference.

as for not wanting a rough idle, just get a wider lsa, no need to sacrifice power for idle quality alone......you need to call a sales rep and tell them your goals they will build you one right there on the phone and it will be on the way to your house

Um ya check the stickies in the newbie section and in the internal engine section. However before your new cam you should consider a few things like can your car handle the new power. I would recommend a better rear if its still stock, a better clutch, and then the stuff that goes with a cam swap. Double roller timing chain, pushrods, springs, retainers, seeing your a 99 I would recommend an oil pump upgrade.

As for the intake mani... A FAST 92mm intake with a bigger throttle body. It will make a difference but it will hit the wallet hard because it cashs in over a grand for the upgrade.

To the original poster... don't take it personal when these guys tell you to do a search. They do come about it a little rough but understand that this question is posted atleast 10-15x a week on this section and others. A search really does help. At the end of everything you need to find out what your goals are with you car and whether you plan on keeping it or not in the long run. Is it going to be a daily driver or a weekend warrior. Just do as much research as you can and your outcome will be what you want. Good luck bud on the search.
