Default Best method for tinting lights.

Just picked up a 2006 V and got the windows tinted this weekend. I am looking to tint the fogs and turn signals. I have used the spray tints before but they dont seem to last to long. I have also seperated a few sets of tails and tinted the inside. That worked great and lasted, but sometimes they would fog up or get condensation behind the lense. I would also like to tint the taillights and third brake light. But I would have to find a good method to first. All the window tint guys that I have talked to about the film tint kits they sell or the lights say they are almost impossible to install they and look good. I found a set of smoked turn signals list below. Anyone use them and are they any good. I havnt seen any tinted covers for the V that look good.

Basically Im just looking for some input from people with there lenses smoked. How they did it, how much it cost and how it is holding up.

I have used this brand spray a few times and it worked way better than the VHT spray.

The reason it didn't last is because you didn't use clear coat after the paint. I always do at least 3 coats of clear after I get the desired shade. Then wet sand and polish with ultimate compound. They will look like glass if you follow this process.

Ya I always did a few coats of clear and I would wet sand it before to get a good bond. Then wet sand and buff afterwards to get the nice shine.

I mixed clear with black. it was something like 10 parts clear to 1 part black. You could even tint them the same color as your car with the "touch up" paint at auto stores. They will have one that matches. Since mine was black, it didnt really matter. but just kept adding and doing "spray tests" to see how dark it was. I kept it a little lighter than I wanted, because I could always add another coat. More coats the darker it got. turned out great, they have only been on for about 5 months, but they still look perfect.

I just use tint (it's a 3m product like window tint) on mine. Audi is a yr old and no issues, vette's are 3 years old and no issues.

When you say VHT didn't last long, how long we talkin?? I'm goin on 3 years now and there's no sign of wear at all, my last truck went 4 years and had one part where the clear was starting to wear off, so I just sanded a bit off and cleared again. Did you use a quality clear? Or walmart special?

If you get tired of screwin around with coatings I'll dicker with ya on these. The last ones I know in existence.
