Question Is there a break-in period for an automatic transmission?

A friend of mine just had a "brand new" remanufactured 4L-60E installed. Is there a break-in period for this... like, for the first 500 or 1,000 miles, should you go easy on it? Or can you hammer on it right after installation? And should you do a quick first fluid change, like after 3-5,000 miles, or just start out its life using the normal (i.e. 15,000-mile) service intervals? Thanks.

I did a search and opinions seemed to vary as far as break-in is concerned. I guess it couldn't hurt for them to go easy on the tranny for at least the first ~500 miles, just to be safe.

Did I post this in the proper forum?

I'd take it easy for at least 500 miles. Let the clutch packs seat well.
