Default Do I need the stock oil pressure switch for the engine to work?

I cleaned up my harness per Brenden's lt1swap information and noticed I removed the plug for the stock 2004 5.3 oil pressure switch.

Do I need this hooked up for the PCM to fire the injectors?

I am adding the correct switch for my guages in the boss on the side of the oil pan.

Is the stock 5.3 oil pressure switch needed or can I do away with that?

The PCM does not need it.

The switch is merely an on / off and runs an idiot light on the dash.
