Who all is running 15x12's in the back?
Just wanting to see how many people are running a 12" rim on the rear of their cars. I am building a new car and doing a Wolfe minitub on it and wondering how much work is involved in making the 12" rims fit over a 10" rim. I will be running a 325/50 drag radial (maybe bigger later on).
*edit* wanting to hear from people that are fully tucking the tire on the back, so I can slam the car.
thanks in advance

I had 15x12's with 8.75 b.s. Holeshot wheels. 1/2 inch narrowed rear with 3/4 inch spacers to make it sit like it does and clear my brakes. I had plenty of room in the tubs but I cant remember how much to the tire and control arms. I remember it wasnt much maybe 1/2 inch

I'm going to take the offset lcs'a I have and make new spacers so the arm will be right against the body mount and the rear lca mount, that will give me another 5/8 of an inch I think.
I wanted to do 15x12, but it looks like I can't pull them in as much.
I'm gonna go with a 15x10 on a 5 inch backspace, and narrow the rear 3.25 per side, that should bring the tires in 3/4 inch from stock.
I'm sure a 28x10.5S tire will clear that, I am not sure about the 29.5x10.5S, the carcass is a little wider, but I'm gonna try and see, I think it will clear. I have about an inch from the control arm now, and that's stock width with 7.5 backspace. If I pull the control arm in 1/2 an inch, I should be able to pull the tire in 3/4 of an inch and still have enough room for the slightly wider tire.

so it sounds and looks like i will be able to tuck a 15x10 better then a 15x12? I will run 325/50's this go around, but it may be 295's later on. Sounds like even with offset lower control arms the 12" wheel may still get into the control arm with completely tucking the tire?
on side a note, that Camaro looks tough!

On my car, mini-tubbed with Wolfe offset LCA's,I think the 12" wheel would be mighty close to the LCA.
Remember a 12" wheel is heavier, so unless you have some monster tire or need every bit of contact out of your tire, I think you'd be fine with a 10" wheel.

I was thinking about this... a 29.5x10.5S is what I want to run, but the 28x10.5S is the min I will run in case the 29.5 won't fit.... The wider rim will certainly flatten the 28 out alot and keep the 29 about the same as where the 28 I am running now is, makes me wonder which is really the better thing to do.

I'm minitubbed, narrowed 4'' overall, offset LCA's, and coilovers.
heres mine on 15x12 alumastars with a 5'' backspace ans 28x13.50x15's. Ill have pics tomorrow of a 15x12 with 5.5 bs and 325's so it'll be tucked a bit more

See I'm goiong to minitub and narrow the rear so a set of rims will have to be bought...
Just not sure if the 12 inch wide is needed/will be beneficial or not.
tires, will be either a 28x10.5S, 29.5x10.5S, or possibly a radial... but if i have to buy a 2nd set of wheels to put the radials on, I may do that so they're not the real point of concern... the 28S and 29.5S tires are.

Firebird's def. have more room. My personal car and a customer's both have 29.5x10.5s tucked and with stock wheel tubs hammered for clearance. I'm still on a 15x10 rim though. I want to swap to 15x12s but haven't been able to justify the cost of new rims when these have worked fine.

thats pretty sick dude, exactly what i started this post for. How far from the control arm do the tires sit? room for making normal turns without rubbing? Could you slam it more without rubbing the outside fender?
look forward to anymore pics you have as well.
