They can get hot especially if your at the track. BUT, 500 degree paint is fine. I sure hope you took the time to clean your calipers well. If not, you wasted your time.

It is not nesessary to put high temp paint on calipers. They dont get hot enough. I have been using normal paint on my calipers for years and have not one single problem out of it. And looks just as good as when I put it on the first time

High temp is neccessary if you drive the car like it was meant to I used a 500 degree paint for my calipers and it was fine for daily driving and drag strip but the first and only time I ever went to a road course I got pulled off the course due to smoke from my brakes. The rotors were red hot and the paint was boiling on my calipers. Was kicking myself for not using 1200.

Re: Painting calipers 500 temp alright?
I have to grin EVERY time I see someone make this statement. I tried driving the 47 mile trip to work one morning the way I think mine should be driven a quarter mile at a time hitting the shift light through three gears then stopping and doing it again time and time again. After the first 19 miles and 3 tickets I decided to drive normal.
J/K BTW about the above trip to work, but it could be tempting if I put a nickel's worth of credibility to a statement like this. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
