When changing and EGR valve Do you have to reset the computer before you start it back up, or can you just change it and the SES light will go away???

If I recall correctly on most, if not all, of the EGR codes the MIL (malfunction indicator light) will turn off after 3 consecutive ignition cycles that the diagnostic runs and doesn't fail. Then the history code is cleared after 40 cycles of the same without failing.
