going to look at a z28
Ive been waiting to sell my 5.0 to buy a ls1, and have been keeping an eye on em for a while watching how much there going for. I decided to look for a 6 speed and its kinda hard to find a nice one in my price range within a few hundred miles. I found one i really like (in the pics anyways) now i gotta go look at it, and its 250 miles away. I shouldnt even be lookin cause i wont have all the money for a month or so but i talked the guy selling it to hold it for me with a grand and let me pay him the rest out for a month or so. So if its as nice as it looks il have it soon. Its a 98 white z28 with blue racing stripes, 6 speed, new chrome wheels and tires, white face gauges, and 2 kicker 12s and amp in the back what do you all think?

well i went to look at that car, i was sure by the way it looked and what they said i was gonna get it, but what a huge waste of a day. I just wasnt sure about the car, the outside looks good, the inside has really nice leather and besides the cup holder being broke and missing the plastic trim that go's around the shifter. But when we opened the passenger door it was really wet in the floor, you can tell it was leaking from above somewhere just couldnt tell where, then i noticed someone had tried to silicone on top right in front of the ttop, maybe tring to fix a leak but guess that didnt work, it was missing a sun visor but no big deal. When it cranked it sounded awesome and set off the alarm of a car close by, then i drove it and it was FAST, only thing was something seemed off with the steering, i need to drive another one cause im not sure if thats how they its supposed to be or not, then i noticed the windows wouldnt roll down. They said they didnt know it was leaking and they said the previous owner disconnected the windows cause the driver side was really slow rolling up and he was afraid he would roll it down and it would get stuck, I CLEARLY ask b4 i came does all the power options work, they said yes then tell me this when i get there-********- then i talked to em bout the steering and he said well if anything maybe it needs a tie rod? They said they would take 6600 as is or the full 6995 and fix the leak, but how do i know there even gonna fix it right. It sucked i went all the way there but i just felt maybe i should wait to find one i dont have to work on. For 6600 id have to fix a leak, replace the window motor, find a shifter bezel and visor, and may have some front end or steering work(but i wont know till i compare to another). The stereo with 2 kicker 12s sounded awesome but i think im gonna pass on this one. What do you think? Is it to much to ask to get one for that much money without all that wrong with it?

An ongoing leak could have potentially caused mildew as well...so there may be more to it than a minor inconvenience.
The window motors are an easy fix, I got the motor for less than $30 online and the trim pieces are minor as well.
After seeing all that is wrong just offer what you feel it's worth taking into account what fixing stuff would cost and if they say no, just walk. Nothing lost. I would not under any circumstances pay them essentially $400 to fix the leak though...
