Default paint estimate

I went to a couple of body and paint shops today. I have a dent in the rear quarter panel from a car backing into me. The cheapest dent removal and full body paint job i found is $4,500. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is way to much for my budget and that 4500 $ is the cheatpest estimate i got. The dent is tiny and i know Macco can fix the dent and do a full paint job for under $500. Am i getting ripped off?

it depends on the quailty of the job. for 4500 is a little bit much. for a show car yes that is about
right. you should be looking under 2Gs for a decent job.

just remember... you get what you pay for. I don't think 4500 is out of range for a nice paint job. It takes alot of time for a good job. Time is one of the main reasons our shop doesn't do complete paint jobs. (and that most people don't want to spend what it is worth)

yes, i can see spending it on a show car. When i was there they just got done paint a 69 Camaro show car, $ 9,000 paint job. But there was somebody spending $5,000 dollars on a paint job for a honda accord.

My paint job cost $8,000.

As many have said, with automotive paint, you get what you pay for . . .

I paid 4 g's 4 mine, kept it stock color... looks great, they did great prep work at it turned out great. The thing is though i got a hook up, he does all of our cars. So i think 4500 is the norm for a full body paint

ok,long have the days been gone of the Earl S. and the "cheap" paint jobs of yester-year(MAACO HA!)and yes YOU do get what you pay for most of the time.15+ years in the industry, I have learned that the finish is only as good as the prep, much like a foundation for a house. So as far as $4,500 being to much or being ""show car"" material,NOT hardly!Depending on what repatation a shop has will have a lot to do with what results you will end up with!(orange peel, gloss retention, sand scratches, etc.)Long story short,if they are a good shop, relatively "cheap"!
