Can anyone explain the details of how the LS1 control system works?

Default Can anyone explain the details of how the LS1 control system works?

So, our cars have MAF, air temperature, MAP sensor, Throttle position sensor, and of course O2 sensors for fine tuning closed loop mixture. It seems to me that you have quite a bit more data than you need to perform fueling calculations. You can measure the mass of air coming in, or use pressure/temperature to compute it along with volumetric efficiency, and with both of those you can fine tune mixture using the exhaust sensors. You could also probably do a pretty crappy job of fueling by just looking at throttle position - maybe enough to at least let the car run poorly - although you'd be constrained to a reference atmosphere.

Please bear with me as I am a control systems engineer (not automotive) so some of these questions may seem a bit ****, but I like to know how my stuff really works. I've read all about different ways to tune but never seen a really good description of how everything is intended to work together. Does anyone have a good understanding of how all the sensor measurements are combined to form an injector pulse width command? Also what is the throttle position sensor measurement used for? Thanks for any responses!

management doc. Try Googling up

' HOLDEN "GEN III V8 ENGINE MANAGEMENT" '

and see what you find for .pdf files of 100+ pages.
