Default ? power steering:(

my car gots some powering steering issues. like I've no power steering what so ever. Inside the power steering reservoir the fluid is all milky..brown..
almost looks like nestles quick chocolate milk

I noticed theres no antifreeze but at the end of the coolant stick. The tip of it smells like power steering fluid..

is my power steering cooler really not working????????

if it is broken. which i hope not. where can I find one real cheap? lol

or can I even use a used one?

Sounds like the coolant and PS fluid are mixing due to a leak in the PS cooler. Wouldn't be the first time I've heard of that.

You can either replace the cooler, or just delete it and get an upper radiator hose for a model without the PS cooler.

You can delete the cooler and still keep power steering.

I have no clue if the cooler can be fixed. Never done it. I would just replace it or delete it.

i'd honestly just delete it. i did and it's not hard at all. i seriously doubt it helps much and it's one less thing to worry about causing problems down the road.

All you'll need to do to get the proper hose is order one for an early LS1 car, non-WS6 or SS. So like a '98 Trans Am/Z28.

you could use the hose that came on the non ss car's it would replace the hole unit pictured above.

Unless you are autox or lapping you don't need the cooler.

I am working on mine right now. I got a replacement power steering cooler and upper radiator hose from NAPA for around 58 bucks total...cheap and easy.
