Default bolt ons for a 5.3

Going to pick up a 5.3 for my nova and was wondering what are the best bolt ons for the buck and what's the best to start with I was thinking ls6 intake but that's all I can think of because I am new to the ls world

LS6 intake is a good start. LT headers depending on what's available for that car is something to look at as well. UD crank pulley will free up some power as well. The big key is to allow air in and out of the motor as easily as possible. Induction and exhaust as always good places to start.

i was gonna steer you away from the lt's but since its in a nova, go for it i didnt notice a thing when i put them on my tahoe, i think you can find a used 90/90 on here for around 800 and that will be well worth it esp under the hood of a nova and like jon said a 25% ud pulley will help

You don't recommend headers but you tell him to throw his money away on a FAST 90. Great advice.

You don't need or want a 90mm intake/90mm throttle body they don't show the gains on a 5.7 that they should, much less a 5.3. The LS6 is your best bet.

I would start with a good stall if it's an automatic car and follow that with a good cam.

ls1 rail is the same i saw a ported ls6 from jermey f a week or 2 for 350 shipped since normal ls6's sell for 300-350 shipped it was a steal but you should keep your eye out for 300 shipped

btw how much is this 5.3L?

Yes, I do have experience with 4.8 and 5.3 trucks with headers (and other ****) on them. I wouldn't even put another set of headers on a bolt on f-body so I know that you really fucked your low end power by adding yours. Maybe you should get a decent stall too.

Have you had any experience with a FAST 90? ***! No you ******* haven't. They cost more than a set of headers are are worth much less (on cars with more potential than this 5.3).

All in all he's probably gonna need some kind of exhaust just to get this motor in the car. So for that, why not just get a set of headers. With a good stall and a decent cam (in a car that's lighter than your truck) they'll be more towards gain than loss.

The rails from your truck intake are different but no better or worse. They'll just look like **** on a car intake. You can find new LS6 intakes with fuel rails on ebay for $345 shipped all the time. You'll need car style injectors for that as well.

You're doing something wrong.

Here is one with throttle cable bracket, fuel rails and map sensors.

Here is a complete one with TB and 28lbs injectors.

I said that you had no experience. Having one on your car doesn't mean much to me. It likes nice and clean in the pic with no lid on the TB (which would tell me that it probably hasn't even been ran yet), but by all means tell me... What does your car run? What kind of power does it make? What did it do before the FAST.

I've done a FAST 90 on 2 bolt on cars. I actually have proof that is wasn't worth anything on a LS1 and only worth a few rwhp on the dyno on an LS6 car. That would tell me that a car with lesser 5.3 motor wouldn't need more intake.

And I understand what you said. You don't recommend putting headers on a 5.3 tahoe maybe on a Nova, but $800 for a FAST 90 setup that will surely hurt the power more than a set of headers is "well worth it".
