Exclamation LS1 swap with turbo 400 trans, engine only ECU???? need help

Im looking for an LS1 to swap into my 72 chevy pickup. I am currently a mechanic in training with two years expeirence. I am going to a tech school and have an engine unit coming up and i want to swap an LS1 in my pickup. I have a freshly rebuilt turbo 400 in it right now and i want to try to keep the tranny with the swap. How can i bypass the computer and run just the engine wire harness. Ive been told there are after market computers for this kind of thing. But i do not know where to start. If anyone has any tips or information that would be great.
Thanks Max

You just madify a stock engine harness to make it a stand alone harness and use the stock pcm. You don't need anything aftermarket to make the engine run.

As long as its a cable throttle body (not drive by wire) just use a stick shift tune
