when i put on the heat or a/c it wont blow out the vents. the ses light is on and it says it the map senor. i know that to two problems are related.

any ideas?

The only possible relation would be a vacuum leak. That would also explain why nothing is coming out of your vents.

There is a three way vacuum tee by the air conditioning evaporator core box on the firewall that always breaks. They are under three bucks and most parts stores have them in the Help section. They are under five dollars from the dealership also if you want a GM one. Your map code is probably also from the vacuum leak.
