Default dash swap

ok, i have a 93 camaro and im doing the ls1 dash swap, with the 1997 guage cluster. but when i got everything hooked up the tach doesnt read correctly, i narrowed it down to a tach filter( turns high voltage into low voltage) i bypassed that and it just reads higher now, but when i barely have the connector in the back of the gauge cluster it works fine. does anybody have any ideas?

I've seen people say that a aftermarket ignition box fixes the problem. Also I've heard of taking the circuit board from the 93 cluster and putting it in the 97 cluster.

I've never done it but it sounds easy.

I sent a pm to this guy asking him the specifics but he hasn't been on in over a year so I wouldn't hold my breath.
