Catback vs. True Duals
I currently have true duals. I have been thinking about switching back to a catback, most likely the LM1. I know everyone think it is raspy, but I like the way it sounds.
I think if I switch back I will regret it. If I keep the duals I am going to have to reroute the pipe and reloacte the mufflers. The way it is setup now it sounds like ***. Will the LM1 flow just as well?
What do yall say?

I would say go SLP loudmouth and if you dont like it do the powerflo conversion with Dual cutouts. Its best of both worlds, very quiet when you want it and damn loud when you want it. Thats what Im going to do!! Im getting my SLP loudmouths put on my stock WS6 this weekend. I cant wait!

I heard a bunch of bad stuff about the LM1 with headers but did it anyways cus I liked mine with stock manifolds and didn't want to scrape over EVERYTHING like most my friends tds do lol . I now have LTs and ory and it still sounds GREAT !! I used a 3.5 inch flowmaster merge beCause I heard it gets rid of some rasp .... Mine has some at a few RPMs but mostly is barely louder than it was with the manifolds and then at wot sounds amazing ! Lots of compliments on it so far . I do have an auto with 2.73s right now which could be a factor but I like the sound so far . Listen to sound clips and see what YOU because you'll be driving it not everyone else . Good luck

Without cut-outs a Y-pipe will not flow as well as TD's....
What it comes down to is what YOU like.
I have your exact setup (pacestters instead of Hookers) and I love it! I don't care much for the drone at 2k rpm but it doesn't last long Other than that, the deep throaty exhaust note throughout the rpm range cannot be beat! Mine is fairly quiet at idle but sounds like a beast at WOT.
I'd say just change mufflers before you you change back to a Y-pipe.
Just my .02

Wow it is pretty much one sided. Haha. I know it is what I like but I'm still not sure what I want.
I talked to the exhaust shop yesterday and they said they couldn't dump my single chambers so I might put my bullets back on, and sell the single chambers.
Do dumped bullets sound good? Is there a lot of drone? Anyone have sound clips and pics of the setup?
ThAnks everybody.

A Loudmouth sounds terrible IMO. They sound...weird...on an LS1 to say the least. It won't necessarily flow poorly. I'm willing to bet most y-pipe setups on these cars outflow/outscavenge true duals. Not because y-pipes are better - quite the contrary. It's just much easier to make a good y-pipe on these cars than a good true duals setup. Most of the true dual setups for these cars are hack jobs and a properly (and much more easily) made y-pipe would outperform it.
You'll never get a better sound than single chambers on these cars IMO.

i recently just changed my setup from Hooker LT's ORY pipe and LM1 catback to true duals. It was the best decision i have ever made sound wise, ground clearance is a little different. I dont drive my car that much so it doesnt bother me. The sound of true duals is amazing, i had a shop mandrel bend me a 3" x pipe into 3" dynomax bullets(all stainles too ) sounds great at idle, very smooth in the midrange, and very throaty up top. Interior drone is very comparable to when i had the loud mouth on.

I decided to keep my duals with h-pipe but, I switched out the single chambers for LM1 resonators. It sounds amazing. It finally sounds like I have always wanted it too.
I will post sound clips when I get a chance.

I have the LM1. I love it. It's really not loud inside the car. I don't think of the sound as being raspy. It's more hollow which I like. I don't have LT's yet, but do expect it to probably sound a little more raspy once I replace the cats with a ORY. If you have duals already keep them, if not get the LM1.
