Affordable speakers to put in doors?
I'm wanting to put new speakers on my car and I have the 10 speaker system in my car before the Monsoon was introduced but they are basically the same. Anyway what affordable speakers are you guys putting in there that sound good? The CDT's from Kee are kind of expensive at $170 just for the door seakers.

I got a set of 6.5's several years ago for free for loaning someone money to buy a stereo. basically the speakers came free with the deck he bought and i got him to install them and then he paid me the money i loaned him on his next paycheck. anyway, the speakers didn't quite line up to the bolt holes in the speaker mounts so we drilled a few small holes into the mounts and used metal screws that went through the holes the speakers did have to fasten them to the speaker mounts. with the door panels on you can't even tell they aren't factory speakers. even with the door panel off the speaker screws aren't that noticeable either (we used black ones) Here is a pic of a speaker cage i found on ebay. basically we had to drill holes into the outer part of the cage and screw the speaker into them.
Not sure if this will help you but it is a way to use standard 6.5 speakers in fbodies which will allow you to buy less expensive speakers.

MB Quart FSA-216 is what I'm running. $60 shipped off of ebay.
Don't get me wrong, you can buy better speakers.
But I doubt you could for the price.
Some day I plan to replace mine with a higher quality set like
alpine or jl audio. But their component systems cost more than
twice as much. So really it just comes down to what you want
to spend.
