Default compression to horsepower comparison

ok i have a stock bottom end ls1 at the moment. 98 model with a vindicator cam ls6 intake mid length headers and am making close to 400 hp. my question is how much different would it be if say i forged the bottom end with dish pistons that dropped the compression ratio to say around 9 to 1. the reason being so later i can go boost. right now i just want to forge it and maybe spray it for a while. would that be a decent thing to do and would the lower compression kill my hp ?
