Default Cuts out and wont accelerate past 55

This does not apply to a F body of any form. . . This a 88 Jeep Wrangler. . . I have no way to get another knowledgeable opinion. . . . It's a 88 Wrangler with a straight 6 and a 5spd, it's carburated. . . It's tough to start but while warmed up and running it runs and revs good in neutral.

But, no matter what gear it's in it will not go past 55 Mph, WTF?

It has no cat, runs good in neutral and has a new fuel pump.

What can it be?

It feels like it just bogs and chokes out at 55 and will not rev past 1500, if I pop it out of gear it revs fine while moving. Clutch feels solid as rock and I can get it to burn tires a bit.

Change the fuel filter.......could be that simple. Especially if it revs good in nuetral but not under load......could be the issue.

Definitely check fuel pressure and check to see if the carb is sticking

There is no fuel filter. . . . It has to be the carb. . . it has to be. . . I lifted it up and ran it on jack stands, it got up to 80 with no problem. . . Weird. . .

It's like load kills it. . . . Yet at low speeds it runs like a champ. . . . It's so simple it is pissing me off.

Sounds like a fuel problem have you checked the pressure yet?

That was my next thing. . . It's my neighbor's and he is out of town.

+ We took it off roading a bit and bent the yoke for the rear wheel drive. The transmission mount was actually not bolted to the frame. I jumped it, the drive line had to bounce back. . . Now it is bent to ****.

Update. . . . . :

Never put any bull **** past anyone, when you have morons work on the vehicle before you.

Hooked up a fuel pressure gauge, reads about 7-10 Psi. . . I run it at about 70% WOT the fuel pressure drops to 0-2. . . . Yeah, I have no clue on how it runs period.

I drop the tank, in process I notice it is duct taped then JB welded over. . . . Yup. . . . really, it is plastic tank too. . .

I pulled out the sending unit, it had nothing attached to it. No sock at the end. . . . Hmm. . . . I try to blow through the fuel line. I can not even push any air with my mouth.

Great. . . . . Got my compressor out. . . I have no idea what came out, but it looked like pieces of strainer or the plastic like mount. . . . .

This thing is really somethiing. . . . . . .

Yeah. . . this Heep is amazing sereously, the **** I found done to this thing. . .

Yet it looks like it was never really taken off roading.

So far, the exhaust is cut in about 3 places and just stuck together(no clamps or welds), all the emissions garbage from the 80's is still there(well, it was just sitting there, not really attached to anything), the drive train was not actually bolted to the cross member or anything else. Now the rear slip yoke is bent, when I dumped the clutch the drive train shifted and bent the yoke. . . The rear brakes do not exist, period. . . the JB welded crack in the tank, the garbage inside the fuel line. . . .

Otherwise, it seems real solid. . . . LMAO
