msd 6010 ls1 carb ignition questions...
hi everybody im new to the forum and was wondering if someone can help me out. i have a 2000 4.8 vortec motor converted to carb with a 600cfm holley and edelbrock intake, im using the igintion curve 2 pill and i havent messed with the actual programing of the module its just the way it came out of the box and the #2 curve. Well the problem is that when i attach the map sensor and run the truck it stumbles not too bad but it stumbles as i accelerate to full throttle, but when i deattach the map sensor and not use it, it runs great no stumble....is this normal?? or so i can use the map sensor i have to actually program the ignition module to use it? thanks

so the map sensor provides additional advance on top of the curve that is shown on the pill curve or is the advance already calculated into the pill curve? and thanks alot for the info so far

MAP advance is vacuum advance. when vacuum is present, the amount of map advance is added to the timing curve built into the pill(or custom program). FWIW all the pills that come with the MSD units seem to be terrible setups. I highly recomend setting up your own curve on a computer, and tailoring Map advance to the vacuum readings your engine makes

o ok i see now, thanks alot for the info guys, and yeah i think im going to make my own advance curve due to the fact i think the pills advance my motor too much, and for danbap, all the pills made my motor(stock 4.8 with holley 600 vacuum secondaries) run just not that great they are good just to turn on the motor but thats it and well i guess u might get lucky if one works good depending on what set up u have and for now im not running a map sensor due to the over advance factor, once i make my own curve then i will
