Default LS engine water flow at idle?

I heard the LSx engines water pumps do not flow water through the engine at idle, anyone heard of this?

That statement is false. If it were true that would be a recipe for disaster each time the engine were idling for any length of time!

The truth:
Gen III / IV engines don't flow water through the radiator until the stat opens up. However they do flow water through the heater core at all times unless there is a shutoff built in the heater line. That is why Gen III / IV cars heat up so fast on a cold day compared to a Gen I / II powered car.
