Can I get a little more info on the LT1 SS's
Ok. I just purchased a 96 SS with a 104,xxx on the clock. It runs great with great oil pressure. I just wanted to know if anybody had some more info on the LT1 SLP SS's. What options were available? As far as I can tell it has better suspension, better rear end cover, possibly a different limited slip?, are the brakes different? Should I still upgrade to LS1 brakes?
I know in 96 the cars were shipped to SLP with dummy hoods and spoilers and those were painted at SLP and installed. Was an oil cooler an SLP option that year? Any help is apreciated guys. I can find all sorts of info on the 98-02 SS's but not so much on the LT1s.

I have my pamphlet from when I bought mine. I'll see if I can get it scanned in the next few days (out of town right now) which lists the options.
What I didn't see in that link is for another thousand dollars you could get 4 BFG R1's on an extra set of ZR1 wheels.
The option codes should be listed on a SLP sticker in the doors IIRC.

There should be stickers that say "SLP" on them on the doors and on the radiator support. I can't remember if the stickers have codes for options or if it just states what options the car has. I believe you can also call SLP with the VIN and they should be able to tell you. Hopefully you didn't get a clone.

Pretty much what happened with mine. After i found out it wasn't an SS i did some more research and found out that the guy i bought mine from bought it from someone else, who gutted a wrecked ss sometime in the past and put it all on a z28. So no slp stickers, but one really good clone lol.

it says they where 100 LT4 firehawks available, I thought there was less than 30 made?
It says that ss's and firehawks got special/reworked exhaust manifolds, is that true?
Also it mentioned that the formulas had door badges in the early years, but I'm almost certain they didnt.
Also it says that early firebirds had black roofs, but I've never seen one, I thought it was like this on the camaro only. It also doesn't mention the 1993 oddball year of the 700R4 tranny...

I don't have any info on the Firehaws, but it is my understanding there were indeed 100 made with LT4 engines. The pamphlet I have stated extrude honing was an option on the 1996 exhaust manifolds, but I never saw that option when I bought my car. I called SLP and they explained they did offer this on the first few models, but then realized the cost did not justify the gain or means so they stopped.

My stickers are also on the door, but they are so faded out that most of it is illegable. I can see the exhaust option and torsen differential but there are more options that I could not read. My car had several bolt-ons when I got it (which are things I would want anyway) so I am not sure what the other options were. I called SLP and they did give me the build number - #2438.
What stickers should be on the rad support? All of my radiator support stickers are gone. Only some MSD junk plastered on there now.

I'm home and rummaging through my crap to find that pamphlet to scan....
My bad. I thought you were typing about LT4 Camaros. I do recall the LT4 in a Firehawk was indeed rare, but I have no info.
