Default How bad do I need a cooler???

I had my tranny rebuilt recently by a sponsor here in cali and I also installed a 3600 stall. I asked the guy about installing a cooler when I got my car back and he said that a 3600 stall was border line but that he'd recommend it. I was just wondering how bad I needed to put one in

You should install a trans temp gauge, you'll see with your own eyes that you need one.

ALWAYS buy a cooler. It's a cheap item that can save you a LOT of $$$ down the road. I only run a 3200 stall, and I got the biggest cooler I could find. 29,200btu's keeps my transmission nice and cool.

How much cooler would a 29,200 BTU trans cooler be over a 15,500 BTU cooler, and what are the stock transmission temps.

On the vette im driving, has cam and stock coverter I believe....since it has trans temp gauge its normally around 210 degrees around town but on the parkway or no load its around 190...Not sure about yours but this has tranny cooler lines going to the radiator so the temp runs at what temp thermostat you got...or above

Grab yourself a B&M 70264 for $60, will work just fine for you.

It's not a bad idea to run a cooler on a transmission with the stock converter even. Stuff heats up when your hot lapping the car, doing burnouts, beating on the car hard etc. etc. I once installed a 3600 stall with no cooler when I didn't know better and within 2,000-3,000 miles the trans needed to be rebuilt.

buy the biggest trans cooler you can afford. i recently upgraded to the 29,000 gvw b&m. car was running hot with the smaller cooler i had in there. and make sure you bypass the radiator when doing your trans cooler.
