For springs id recommend patriot gold extremes. A lot of people run them and LE recommends them. Id stay away from beehives. My friend cracked 3 in his cam only LT1 (CC503). As far as lifters, GM LS7s will be your best option. Comp's are notorious for breaking and Morel's are used on more extreme applications. WS6 store sells the lifters for $130

You could run the Crane 10308-1 spring kit which is $200 in Summit and has everything you need except for valve stem seals. Since the cc306 has lazy lobes you don't need any beehives or Patriot springs which cost quite a bit more money. Don't get me wrong they are better springs but since you are looking for a cheap set that will work the Cranes would probaly be your best bet.

Here's my reasoning - the cost behind the cam itself is 1/4th the cost of a complete cam install to be done correctly. After rockers, springs, timing chain, gaskets, blah blah blah, you're looking at close to a thousand dollars. You're going to need a mail-order tune to get this thing running. Then, once you get the cam you want, you're going to have to spend more money on a re-tune - money that could be put towards running a cam that makes far more sense. I could go on, but hey, it's your car. Good luck.

its just funny that you'd **** on the beehives (obviously comp 918s), when they're made by the same manufacturer as the patriot springs. I'd recommend a good set of pac 1218s, you can pick the locators and retainers second hand for pretty cheap usually, and the springs aren't too expensive. Comp lifters actually have a suprisingly GOOD track record both hydraulic and mechanical, considering a lot of their other stuff sucks.
