If I was closer I could fix it but honestly your gonna pay someone at least $50.00 to fix it for you. Your better off just buying a used one at gamestop or what ever or a new one, besides the new Kinect is fricken sweet coming out Nov 4th. And the new ones have the plug in already built in for it.

I had the this problem. Youtube has alot of vids on how to get it apart and how to fix it. GL In short you need to buy some nuts and bolts. Clean the heat sinks, remove X-braces, and drill out the bottom for the new bolts which will provide you area for air cooling.

Im about to take my 360 to these guys. http://houston.craigslist.org/vgm/1868617416.html. Should be right around the corner from you. I called them a couple of weeks ago. For $70 they fix it so it won't happen again, and do a few upgrades like larger fans. Supposed to be like a day turnaround.
I watched the how-tos on youtube. Doesn't seem too hard, but you have to buy tools and parts. Figure might as well have someone who knows exactly how to do it, do it.

Check it out man... Xbox extended the infamouse "ring of death" warranty for all xbox owners to be "indefinate". I guess this is their way of fixing their screw up. I've personly been through 3 xboxes myself. Third time was the charm. They dont ask for much... just the serial number on the back to make sure it isnt stolen. oh and one more thing... DO NOT LET ANYONE OPEN YOUR XBOX OTHER THAN MICROSOFT!! There are some locking pins inside the console that; if broken, void any hope that microsoft will replace your xbox. Just call 1-800-4myxbox... they send you a pre paid box to drop off at ups and you get a new (refurbished) console withing 2 weeks.

They dont care how old it is boss... they just care about it not being stolen and they want to make sure that no one has opened it to try to fix it... the average life of the first consoles when they first came out was about 1-1/2 to 2 years depending on how much you use it. I got mine the day they came out back in 06... I've had my share of conversations with Microsoft... Just trying to help you out man.
