Default can you tune out knock sensors?

I rencently got a code for a bad knock sensor. I was asking about getting it replaced and it was mentioned that i could just get a tune and "tune them out" instead of replacing. My car is mostly stock but id like to have it tuned, just wondering if its a bad idea to just tune them out. Is it harmfull to the engine to not have them? Also is it harmfull to drive it now with a bad knock sensor?

Yes you can do it, but its not a good idea. Fix it correctly.

The problem is if you really have knock your PCM won't recognize it and pull timing so damage may occur. Not a great chance but possible....

Really makes me question why the guy would even mention tuning them out- Hes a mechanic and tuner, you would think he wouldnt suggest things that could be harmfull to my engine. I didnt think it sounded right, just glad i have this site to ask questions about stuff like this. Guess i need to work on getting it fixed soon, from what ive read it looks like a good idea to replace both while the intake is off. If i didnt my luck would be the other would go bad a week later.

This. Fix the knock sensor so you don't end up destroying your engine.
