Default In Car video. C5 vette cam only.. critique please!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tj46mEkok6A

Check out the video!

99 C5 vette.
stock mn6 trans 3.42 gears (obviously not good, haha)
mcleod rst twin disc, alum flywheel (ouch)
305/35/18 mickey thompsons
232/240 cam
XSPower longtubes, ORX, 3" catback
ls6 intake, vararam
407/367 mustang dyno

As you can see, pass 1 I slip it alot... too much?
Pass 2 more of a dump, the rpm's drop wayyy down (shitty gearing and alum flywheel rearing their ugly head here)

Whatchya think? Would a 3.90 gear out back help the car a ton? I road race the car as well which is why it has the alum flywheel and that isn't going to change for that reason... obviously not optimal but okay for dual purpose, I'll deal with it!

Thanks!

-Jon

You would def. benifet from a 3.90 gear . Car is a little on the slow side but I think the aluminum flywheel is holding you back for strip use but not bad and I think you could def. see a 11.9XX pass with the 3.90 gear. Good luck and keep posting results. Also try launching higher like you did the second run just preload the drivetrain and then dump it. I would recomend leaving around 5500+ rpm

that first pass you did slip it a little too much. i think if you could find a happy medium inbetween your two passes youll benefit a ton. Gears will help you alot out of the hole but then again with your IRS getting your car to cut a good 60' without too much wheel hop or spin will be a uphill battle on its own

Your car sounds sweet !! I would say 3.90 or a 4.10 gear with a set of ported LS6 Heads would be the way I would go. Your cam would really shine with a good set of heads .

The lower (3.90) gear would allow you to move through the rpm range quicker but would not allow you to complete the quarter-mile without changing into 4th gear. This is something to think about. The lower gear, either 3.90 or 4.10, I think would still help. Also, a good burnout would help alot. Your burnouts were way too short IMO.

No need for a longer burnout if hes dead hooking already why burn off more tire? He also doesn't mind shifting to 4th at all so I think a gear change is in order

i agree detroit. superman that vette you have there looks great. and what they were saying about rpm launch its just a practice thing to see what your car likes with your suspension setup youll just have to play with tire pressure etc. to see what will work the best

road race tires up front, no tread lines so they don't hold water.

Yep, R-compounds up front, Mickeys out back. I have 2 more R-compounds for out back I swap on for the road course same size as the Mickeys.
