Default What's an acceptable gap on the oil rings?

I had a full set of Wiseco rings come with my 402 rotating assembly, and because not all of my oil rings were the same (apparently wiseco just switched, so I got some of the new and some of the old), wiseco was nice enough to send me a whole new set. This was a bit of a relief because the old ones seemed to vary wildly in gap width, from 13 thousands all the way to 40 thousands. The new set seems much more consistent so far... but they're consistent at around 38-40 thousands gap. That seems awful wide to me, but I really don't know. I guess all they need to do is scrape the oil off the walls, so maybe that's ok?

For those of you who build these motors regularly, what's acceptable for the oil ring gap? The literature that comes with the pistons just says greater than 10 thousands, but I seem to be WAY greater than that...

Update... Called Wiseco, they said that 40 thousands is perfectly acceptable on the oil rings. You guys agree/disagree?
