Strong Street Engine Build?
I am building a 383 (that is starting life as a 4.8) and I am planning on making around 400+rwhp and around 400+rwtq as well. Im planning on running a cam in the 224/228 .580 lift range and around 10.5 to 11.1 comp. range. My question is, Will getting my factory heads CNC ported be worth the money or could I just go with some hand porting, upgraded valve and etc. from a head shop that has built alot of heads for me in the past and save about $500?

you probably wont make 400/400 with factory heads and that cam. how are you planning on getting 10.5-11.1? If you pick up a set of 243/799 heads then it would be more worth your while to CNC/deck them. TSP has a nice bunch of CNCed/decked factory heads. This will put you closer to your goal.

Im planning on possibly making the 4.8l into a 383 if I decide to go that route or I might try and find a 6.0l and do pistons and rods. Im trying to see which way is the least expensive now. Seeing as I dont have any money tied into the 4.8 I like I am ahead of the game right now.
