Would you say this is too loud?
Guys, I love the sound of my car at idle or low revs, but still think it's too loud and raspy when accelerating. I've got ARH 1 3/4 LT's with catted-y, a GMMG catback and a Magnaflow bullet muffler (14419) that I added to try and tame the rasp a little.
Maybe it's just me, so I thought I'd record a couple of video clips to get your opinions.
This is a short take-off video. It starts to get a little loud as I pull away, but I soon had to back off because the bend is pretty narrow...

This one is in taken inside the car as I drive around the block. Apologies for the length as I don't know how to edit these videos yet! It gets pretty loud at 0:44, but you can hear the raspy sound that I really don't like at 1:26 and 1:59. Sounds a bit like a trumpet to me!

It actually sounds quieter on the recording than it really is, but I guess it still might be fairly quiet compared to other LS1's with long tubes. I just haven't got anything over here to compare it to and that's why it's really good to get some opinions here.

Sounds good. Don't know how you can manuever on those tiny *** streets though.
With LTs cats, and a cat-back installed, you're not gonna get much quieter than that. I was sick of my exhaust note at 2000-2500 RPM (drive about an hour on the freeway everyday), so I threw down some Dynamat. It helped a little but that drone still kills me.
My advice...buy a louder stereo!

I think I'm coming across as someone who wants a real quiet system, which isn't right. I actually quite like it loud - but deep and rumbly, like it is in the lower rev ranges. I just dislike that piercing trumpet sound it makes at a certain points.

I've done that, a Magnaflow one. It kinda softened the sound across the whole range and took the edge off the rasp a little, but not by enough.

a flowmaster merge should take care of that last little bit of rasp. my friends bolt on LS1 was running a ORY with a dynomouth that sounded horrible. added cats and the merge and no more rasp. The GMMG will always have some rasp, but fixing the merge should almost eliminate it
