breaking rocker studs
I've got a fairly mild 355 LT1, cc306, ls7 lifters, Trick Flow pushrods, Proform 1.6 RRs and some used TPiS/AFR heads with 3/8 rocker studs. It was my first time setting lash, and I broke a rocker stud off, just the very top where the nut engages it. I was told my lash was too tight, so I stole a stud off my stock heads, and set the lash with the engine running. I did have them way too tight(my bad, I admit it), corrected it before I had 200 miles on the engine. I put near 1000 miles on it, ran it at the track. I'm now near 1400 miles on the engine and just broke 2 more off in the other head in the same fashion. Are these studs just that poor, or could I have stressed them by going too tight the first time? I'm leaning towards replacing them with ARP studs, but wanna be sure I don't have any other underlying issues.

I thought about that too, but these rockers are still in great shape and there is nothing wrong with them. They were actually in this engine with the cam when it was otherwise stock. Only reason I want to keep them, I already have em, and don't really have funds to replace right now.
