Any forged piston will do fine with a 150 shot. I ran Speed Pro's in my last 383, they were like 350.00 with a set of rings. I got them off Summit's website. Seem's they have went up on price quite a bit. Here's the link to them.

Okay guys i have been looking around at all different brands. and i am kinda lost. there is a tone of options I.E. flat top, domed, dish top and a bunch more.
can anyone school me on the differences.
also my rods are 6.000 if that makes a difference. also how do i tell what the compression ratio will end up being?

Here's a calculator.
http://www.wallaceracing.com/cr_test2.php
If you're going to run all motor+spray I would try to stay under 12.0:1 to run on pump gas and a mixture on the squeeze. Depending on the deck height of the block a flat top with about a 5cc relief, .000 deck, 58cc head and a .039 head gasket you are at 12.02:1 which is pump gas friendly but you might want to run a 50/50 mixture of 100 and 93 on the spray. It depends on alot of things. I would run a flat top piston if it were me.

Okay i found some srp forged flat top pistons on jegs for 458.99
867-138093 thats the part number
are these what i need. also they dont come with ringer so what rings would i need?
also i was reading that the rings will need to be gaped for nitrous if i am going to run nitrous. But im not going to be putting the nitrous on right away. And even when i do it will only be sprayed on rare occasions.
also is there anything els i need?

Sweet thanks for the help.
but i just talked with lloyd again and he said the probe -4cc pistons will work too.
can some explain to me what the relief on the piston is for exactly. and will -4cc work or should i go with -5cc.
One more thing. why are the probe pistons only 350.00 and the mahle are 650.00 but there made of the same metal? cause i dont want to cheap out on pistons but on the other hand i dont want to be paying double just for a name.

The cc measurement refers to the volume of these reliefs.
Depending on your build you might get by with cheaper pistons, but for a high performance build that might see nitrous or FI, I would only buy Diamond or Wiseco. This is just based on my personal experience and I get into my "comfort zone" with parts that have worked well in the past. There are even more exotic (higher $) pistons out there, but for my purposes and budget Diamond and Wiseco have been good and reliable.

So nobody is running the probe pistons?
i know they are popular in the ford would but just wondering if anyone is running them in their camaro.
I really like the price but i understand you get what you pay for. but on the other hand i know that sometimes your just paying for the name.
