Default Hooker Maxflow or Dynomax Ultraflo

looking to build a custom 3" or 3.5" single in/out catback and am at a tossup between these two mufflers. I know both are straight thru design but what are the differences in packing material on sound quality? Which will last longer?

hooker has ceramic wool packing, while dynomax uses continuous roving fiberglass.

any difference of them having mesh or perforated core? a mesh core will flow better..

probably could save yourself a bit of cash using some sprintcar mufflers..

Dynomax has a perf. tube and judging by pics the maxflow has stainless mesh. What makes the mesh flow better?

I've considered the aerochamber too.

just first startup with the new motor, it's on my desktop at home I'll get it posted up. As soon as fuelab gets off their lazy asses and sends me my fuel pump I'll get some driving around stuff. Been waiting a damn month for that ****

On the old motor I gained ~9hp/tq on the whole curve with the cutout open right before the axle. I have these in the y pipe as well...

The Maxflow is a little bit quieter than the Ultraflow. I ran both on a previous car, and the Maxflow was a bit more smooth, and quiet.

yea open cutout made 9hp/tq more than through the 4" maxflow. it'd probably make 10hp/tq more than the cutout with open headers + extensions with the cam i'm running now. This motor doesn't like exhaust...
