Need Help!! Car idles @2500rpms
I recent swapped a stock lt1 out of a 94 fleetwood in to my z28 camaro. i hooked every thing up perfectly. the mods i added while doing the swap are: new plugs, wires, shorties with aftermarket ypipe, cai, tb bypass. i think thats it. i checked and cleaned the iac and checked tps. i have no vaccum leaks. My only exhaust that i have on the car right now is the headers and the ypipe. could that be the problem? someone pls help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did you "check" the tps and iac. Only way to be sure is with a scanner or ohm meter. Is it shifting fine (assuming it's an auto) if so tps is unlikely.
Also someone may have adjusted the idle screw and I'm guessing you've already checked that the throttle is closing all the way.

i just visually checked the tps. i flash my codes yesterday and got a code 22. which is tps low voltage. how do i adjust it or should i just buy a new one. I dont have any type of scanner. Also there is no way to adjust the idle screw it looks capped off.

the connection at the TPS may be compromised ,make sure it has a good connection (fiddle/wiggle wires) and se if idle changes ...if not, try a new one and if that doesnt help then engine is seeing to much air.
you have a vac leak or blades are open to far ....the IAC will try to compensate for the extra air by closing completely. from what i understand, normal counts when the system is running properly is 30-40 . check its operation with DataMaster .check all vac hoses for cracks, splits check back of manifold egr areas for leaks .... try capping every port off on the manifold and see if it helps at all...

okay so i got a new tps, and i changed the throttle body gasket( it was falling apart). good news: instead of idling at 2500-2800. it goes from 1500-2000. well maybe its not good news but atleast it's down some. i think my next move is a new iac.

high idle
i know it sounds stupid, but recheck all your vacuum lines again. Me and a buddy had a similar problem on his 95 camaro, and couldn't find a leak. Finally we took it into the shop and they found a vacuum leak that we had missed on a line way in the back that was hard to see. It was a costly overlook.

ok if you are getting a tps low voltage get a meter and check the wires going to it......one should be a 5 volt reference.....one is ground and one is the signal back to the car.......sig back to car should be .5ish at idle and 4.8ish at WOT....just becuase it looks good doesnt' mean it is........
next the "open headder" gig.......it will cause the car to run differently usually because of exhaust reversion giving the O2's a false lean reading however it WILL NOT cause the car to idle at 2500.....
next the IAC....could very possibly be it...may be worth a swap.....see if you can use a stheticsope (aka screwdriver to your ear) and hear it moving......
this screams vacuum leak to me but if you say you dont have one then fine its prob the IAC....just for giggles check all the lines again something doesn't seem right.....

Nope, wanna know how I know? Bc I have done it several times, even driven once with only headers, and have read many, many stories on here of people riding months with open headers. Trust me, your dad is wrong.
