Default RE: Mounts for 70-81 F-body

Has any one ever used these mounts to put a LS1 in a 70-81 TA or Camaro?

i second the 1" setback cars hop plates. if ur 81 had a 350 chevy in it, use the clamshells off that. if not, grab some off an 80s camaro or firebird (what i got after messin around with it for a while) and get some 2292 motor mounts. mine engine drops right in with no problem now.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but would rather ask my question here than start a new thread.

Let's say I use a Keisler RS600 5-speed in my 76 Camaro (could be any 5 or 6 speed I suppose). If I want to use a factory center console for a manual (not the 4-speed hump, the the actual console), will using the 1" setback plates adversely affect placement of the shifter in the console opening?

Or since the LS block is a little shorter than the Gen 1 SBC block (that is correct, right?), then the 1" setback plates would place the LS motor in roughly the same spot as the old SBC, which would produce the desired location of the shifter.

1" might not make much difference (hay-o!) with respect to the shifter placement. Thought I would ask to be safe.

BTW, I can just specify that I'd be using 1" setback plates and Keisler could custom place the shifter location, so looks like my previous question is moot.

Not to stray from or hijack the post... I've got an '81 Camaro clip in my '56 F-100. The stock motor mounts were moved forward on the crossmember about 1.5" so the SBC would clear the stock truck firewall. I'm planning to do a 5.3 EFI swap to replace the SBC. I'll be using my TH400 for the time being, until I can afford a T-56 conversion. I'm curious about the oil pan clearance if I install an LS with the non-setback motor mounts. I'm also not sure about the dimensional differences between an LS and an SBC, so I'm wondering where it would place the LS in relation to the firewall. I'm not opposed to re-shaping the firewall if I have to, but would prefer not to since it's pretty nice. If the trans crossmember needs to be moved, it's no big deal.

Does anyone have the block dimensions/measurements for an LS? I've looked everywhere but can't find them. I have a dimensional drawing of an SBC, and would like to find an LS drawing to compare it to.
