Stock MAF a restriction before I get her tuned?? (See mods)
Question - I'm getting my car tuned in the next few weeks and I'm curious if I should step up to a 85mm MAF or not. I've read this MAF needs to be calibrated to work properly, and if the need is there for it, I rather get it tuned once, vs adding it at a later date and then having to get it retuned.
Mods are:
FTRA
MTI lid
Stock MAF
ported stock throttle body
78mm HSW 360 degree wet kit
LS6 Intake (unported)
Stock Heads
Comp 224/224 .57X/.57X 112LSA
Long Tube Headers
75-100 wet shot
The MAF seems like an inexpensive mod (under $100) but I'm unsure if I can use it with my current lid (which doesn't fit well to begin with) or if I even need it at all.
Thus, should I:
1.) keep my current set-up
2.) put in the larger MAF
3.) put in the larger MAF and LID?
To be honest, I know nothing about the lid since it came on the car when I bought it, but I would have to assume it would be too small for the larger MAF....

That MAF will do absolutely nothing for you in terms of power. If you were running a FAST intake, bigger TB, and bigger lid then yes it'd be worth it.
I highly recommend using the stock MAF for nitrous applications. Especially since most "tuners" do not know how to properly scale the MAF anyway.

I recommend you save your money. However, a set of
junkyard stock ends that you pull the screen out of (and
otherwise do not molest) could net you some significant
higher-RPM improvement. Whether you pick up any
inaccuracy depends on stuff like how your particular lid
is bending exit airflow, etc. That's something that a
back-back pair of pulls and a wideband meter could tell
you. If AFR doesn't move badly, it's all good (unless your
air filter doesn't fit).
I have been using the truck MAF for years and it's fine,
but unnecessary until the rest of the pipe is bigger.
And the stock F-body MAF actually has more useful
airflow range. Not that I've hit the limits of either.
