Simple intake swap to possble dissaster! Need some help!
Well started as a simple ls6 intake swap. Got everything back together fired it up and immediately heard a Loud Spuratic knocking coming from the rear of the driver side head(#7??). then smelled burning coolant.. So me and a buddy of mine pull the heads and i obviously dropped some kind of metal in the intake and it wreaked havoc on the cylinder head and the piston. Pulled tiny chunks of metal out of the cylinder but the cylinder itself looks OK the piston has some tiny nicks in it. You can still see cross hatches in the the cylinder. My question is, is the bottom end ok?? not to concerned about the heads as i have some 243s to go on. Any info or tips would be awesome pics coming asap

Here are the pics..
It was burning coolant and had a loud sparratic knock at idle, didnt sound like a Rod Bearing to me, it was in the upper end. It sounded like Piston Slap, and obviously something was in that Cylinder.
Oil is nice and normal, pressure was normal at cold idle, no metal flakes or anything like that anywhere, just this and burning coolant.
I think the Head may be trashed, 243's are goin inplace so that's no prob.

change the oil immediately because coolant eats bearings. Clean the carbon off the pistons and check for cracks in the piston if none deburr the piston so there are no sharp edges on the piston where the metal made contact because the sharp edges can cause detonation.

was coolant steam/smoke actually coming from the tail pipes? my guess if thats the case that whatever entered the cylinder put a hair line crack in the head maybe at a spot where there is a coolant jacket and coolant entered that way.
