Looking for low mount Alt. bracket
I am looking for an Alternator bracket and tensioner that will place the alternator on the lower right side of the engine. I don't use the stock water pump, the alt. is the only thing driven off crankshaft. Anyone know of something that will work? The engine is going in a Porsche 914 and am using a remote electric pump.
Thanks,
Jerry

I did some searching and didn't come up with anything looks like you might be fabing something up. I assume there is something preventing you from using the f-body mount/location. I'm pretty sure there are some other Porsche guys on here that could chime in.

Wrong
If your motor is out of a 2004 GTO then it is a LS1 and it is mounted down low on the drivers side, remember when the say right side or left side of the engine it is always from the drivers seat perspective, the exception to that is a backhoe in which the seat swivels front to rear. Now we are all more confused, are you sure you were not standing on your head when you saw tha alternator on the passenger side of your GTO motor?

I don't think the block has the bosses on the right side to mount the brackets to. I don't what your fab skill are but I don't think it would be too hard to make some brackets that use the ac comp mounting points. I have always been told a good rule of thumb on belt is no more than 1/2" of deflection at the longest point, so if you can achieve that without a tensioner I would think that would be fine.

This BMR mounts is adjustable so you don't have to run a tensioner. Most drag racers use it since they have no other power accessories. I was going to use it, because I have a elec. water pump, and no other power accessories. I ended up buying a supercharger, and my alt. mounts to that bracket and the supercharger has its own tensioner. This post is FYI for the masses, since we have already been talking.
