Nice to see someone else from the Bayou state in here. I just got the same tires, 295-35-18. Haven't made it to the track yet due to other issues with the car, but I have the same question as you. Gotta be better than my Douglas 225s I had last time at the track.
BTW, which track do you go to?

How are they on the street? I want a tire with decent hook that can take a corner without having to worry. I would love to have the mt et street ii's but I don't think they are going to be a very good tire as far as taking aggressive turns.

The first time I went to the track I was stock with DR's and ran the same the second time I went with my mods now and KDW(old tread) tires. I lit the tires up on the first pass and did about a 1/4 burnout. So I dropped the air pressure down to like 18 I think it they did a lot better not spinning but still not what I would have liked. BFG KDW, new and old tread, are great street tires but aren't the best thing for the track. If you want to hook, get some DR's.

I can't claim to have much track experience. I'm kind of a newbie. My first driving experience at the track was 10/24/10 at Capitol, so I can't really tell you if the track got better. I've been going and watching races with friends and family for a few years, but just got around to buying/building this little street car so I can take it to the track a few times a year, so I didn't feel like I needed any DRs.
I can tell you this about Capitol Raceway: I was only spinning one tire (worn out posi) with 225 walmart tires and ran a 1.9 60'. I don't know how, cuz all other runs were consistently 2.1, but I did manage that one 1.9 run. Needless to say, I was impressed with my 60' times with those tires. It was pretty hot and humid that day.
And did go join southernfbody.com. See you in there.
