Default Favor to ask of mods

If you lock a thread, can you let the original poster know why? I had one locked recently without explanation, and I'd like to know what rule(s) I violated, so I don't do that again.

Thanks,

-Mike

X2, It happens all the time here. I'know I've had one or 2 locked before and never got a PM...

I understand if it is something out of line or non-sponsorship.

On one my my threads a mod changed the title of my thread to suit their needs...

Do they not write in the box where it says "Reason for edit"?

I don't really need a PM. If the final post just says, "Locked because of XYZ", that works. If I put a bunch of obscenities in the thread title and you change it, that's fine. Just trying to be a good citizen and all that.

That was the one that was locked, yes. I'm not upset about it, I'd just like to know what I did. If it's a "take it to SSU", that's cool, just let me know.

I've seen some other locked lately, too (not threads I've started) without explanation. Some are obvious, like the Icon thread. That couldn't have gone anywhere but bad from the way the posts started going. Even so, a simple "This is going nowhere fast...locked" would be nice. If nothing else, it serves as a warning to people who are just trying to stir up crap.

I'll give you a universal reason. Some website moderators are too lazy to offer an explanation. In the past, we always asked the moderators to at least respond so that we knew who locked it in the first place. No explanation required on most threads, since they tend to be obvious. But sometimes a locked thread leaves me thinking WTF?

Out of respect for our members, I'd ask that moderators at least reply with "locked", just so the members know who did it.

Unless it is plain obvious like out of control BS, i try to leave the last reply in the lock so the OP and everyone knows why.

Otherwise, i am not everyone else.

If I were a mod, I'd lock this thread right now.

Point was made, and acknowledged... and I can almost bet we'll get a ton of random posts from people saying crap like "YAH! Mah thred waz lokked an idk y. Dam modz, sho meh sum respect yo! PM me b4 u lock mah shitz."

What I mean is I can see this getting repetitive really quick, and probably derailed.

I think that would be reasonable if the mod would be in touch with the OP first about why he locked the other thread.
