Cam swap question
So I'm planning a heads and cam swap and I'm also changing the timing chain to double roller setup. My question is when I unbolt the oil pan to clear the oil sump tube, don't I have to replace the Oil pan gasket? I've read up how to do the swap and no one acknowledges how to handle this. I'm sure if I don't replace it my car will leak because it has 134000 miles and it's still the original gasket in there. Let me know

Typically no you don't. The stock gasket has a rubber insert that should still seal against the bolts and block. You are just loosening most of the bolts anyway and NOT removing the pan completely from the block. I would put two small dots of RTV silicone on the gasket where the pan gasket, front of the block, and front timing cover all come together. This will prevent and leaks there. Other than that, you should be set!
