Recieved Free LS2 Valve Springs....What Cam
Well I recieved a free set of Valve Springs, Locks, Retainers, and Push Rods off a low mileage stock 2007 Trailblazer SS. I would like to take adavantage of these and put a LS6 cam in along with a LS6 Oil Pump and LS2 Timing chain. My car is a 2000 trans am with mods in sig.
Couple of questions
1. Is there better aftermarket cams that these springs and pushrods could still support?
2. If going with an LS6 Cam do i even need to change my stock LS1 pushrods.

well alot of people say the ls6 cam isn't worth it when you could spend a couple hundred and get a much better cam I picked up a decent cam for 200 bucks. Now if your looking for ones that the ls2 valve springs could hold its slightly slimmer pickings I think they're the same as ls6 springs which are rated to .570(I think) again could spend a little more and get a nice set that holds at least .600(I also picked a set up that hold .650 for 145).
And on the topic of if you should change your pushrods the stock ones are thin and bit flimsy I bent one into a Z at the track after 3 passes so I answer that with a resounding yes! change the pushrods(I recommend getting hardened ones you can get those for like 50 bucks off the parts section if you look)
so to sum it up you could put a much better combo together for 400 bucks excluding the price of the new oil pump and the timing chain although I do believe an ls6 oil pump is identical to a ls1 pump.
