Polishing/Painting Silver 10 spokes to look like 35 Anniversary Wheels
Thinking of polishing the spokes of my SS wheels and painting the inserts black to match the 35 anniversary edition wheels. Anyone done this before. Just wondering if it would come out looking the same. If not, just going to leave it as is.

Lots of paint stripper.. the machined face is underneath the silver paint. I did a set yrs ago. I now have a set im selling local in the classifieds (there off a 35th Le car).. Just takes alot of time and patience to strip them.

Exactly as posted. Just strip them. It is a pain, but will reveal the machined face under the silver paint. Just hope you can get a set of center caps for 35th wheels from a dealer. If not maybe get a set of chrome 10 spoke caps (since they are flat) and have a sign shop cover them with some vinyl that looks like brushed stainless or something similar.

I just finished doing this to a set of rims less stripping them. I think they actually look good even though they are not a polished face. I spoke with a few places and a rim shop in particular that said you need to be careful stripping them. The rims that are polished from factory are made of a higher grade of aluminum that shines much better. The painted ones are made from a lower grade that isn't meant to polish up as nicely. With that being said and not wanting to take the chance I decided to keep them the silver on the face with black on the inside. Also I checked a hundred dealers and the polished centers are no longer made and every aftermarket place that had them do not stock them anymore. Shitty but oh well. If you find a place that has them let me know. Also I can send you pics of mine if you like but can't seem to put them on here so I can send them to your e-mail if you like like. Just msg me and i'll pass them on.

Just figured how to add them, lol. Anyway let me know what you think... they are going on a 99 Red SS with 12,000 miles. Also added the stripe kit from Phoenix Graphix. And putting the SS badges on the center caps.

Not on the car yet no.... gotta wait till the snow is gone before it's outta storage. The clearer pics are before I finished painting inside the stripes on the center caps... the other 2 are the finished ones. I was actually trying to find someone who could photoshop them on a Red 99 SS from the side so I could see myself, lol. Any takers?
And thanks for the compliments guys... or gals if that may be the case?

That may be an option, still love the 35th wheels though, on a black camaro, I need some polished wheels. Just dont know about the center caps. IDK how they would look black with a red bowtie or something with polished spokes.

I will do a write up on mine when I do mine. Maybe Monday if Im not busy. I have some curb rash I want to try and sand out too. Nothing major but Im a perfectionist so I want these looking like factory new ones when I am done.

Does anyone know if the lip was machine faced from the factory or was it just the spokes. Because when I sand smooth the curb rash, it will have a polished finish to it
