Default couple questions for you guys

ive got a 2011 chevy colorado 3lt/zq8 w/ the lh9 5.3 in it, im trying to find a good head and cam package for it, im looking at texas speed and trick flow right now, as they have both of these together into one deal altogether,

this is my dd, just looking for some performance gains and a lil more sound out of it, id eventually like to get this thing up to 500hp on all motor if i can,
any helpful info would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Your should have ,799/243 heads already, pretty good heads. Unless you wanted some ported versions I would stick with them and swap in a cam.

I would do the cam and bolt ons on the 5.3L to save money and do an L92 6.2L swap later.

i see your in beebe? i live in griffithville and work in searcy at walmart back in the shop,

yea, ive thought about the 6.2 swap, but it will be sometime down the road, or if the 5.3 gives out and the dealer says s.o.l., but i was thinking about getting a 220/220 .581/.581 112 lsa cam, headers, true dual exhaust into magnaflows, and a cold air intake if they ever come out w/ one for my truck, but i will probably wait on the cam, as im sure it would require a computer tune, and im sure if the dealer sees that, its s.o.l. for sure, but i ma go ahead and do it anyway, surely this thing cant be any harder to work on then a 03-06 5.3, or i may get brace and call them and see what they would charge to do it and if they would cover it or not

I would go with texas speed myself, they are great guys with great parts, I will be honest with you, You are never gonna see 500 RWHP on just that engine. Not being rude, just being real. Now you go bigger with the engine and all the supporting mods and parts, and the small fortune that is required, not a problem.

thats kinda what ive been thinking, i just seen where trick flow was rating their head and cam package for a 5.3 at like 458hp, i kinda questioned myself on that one, but i aint gonna take it personally, lol, im sure i could with some kinda boost, s/c or turbo, but im not gonna spend that extra 5-7k on something thats not gonna get me what i want, i think ill just save my coins and eventually get a built trans, or get mine built, build my rear end up, then go with the l92 6.2, the colorado concept that gm came out with had one in it, but i figure ill proably go with a mast motorsports crate, or find a used 6.2 and give the guys over at texas speed a call and see what we can come up with, thanks for the advice guys,

and if youve got any advice on what to do to that l92 6.2, let me know so i can get into reasearching and figuring, thanks

If the motor has the 243/799 heads on them I would try and get them ported. Those heads are pretty nice, once ported they can do even better. With something like the 220/220 cam mentioned earlier you would have a pretty decent setup. Give us a call and we can go over a couple setups that will match what you are looking for.

Easiest place to find it is on the passenger side head, right at the front of the head, just outside the valve cover

ZQ8 is a performance package for the truck while LH8 is the designation for the engine.

That is correct. ZQ8 is a suspension package if I remember correctly.

yep, zq8 suspension package, they put the lh8s in the 09-10s, then i think went to lh9 beginning w/ mine in 2011,

oh, found some more info while looking around on the v8colorado forum, apparently the lh8/lh9 are the same as the fullsize 5.3s, but w/ a lil different bulild structure, and a 4.8 cam detuned,

and there are no numbers on the pass side front of my heads, cant see the drivers side bc of alternator and the main acc. bracket is right there

alright, just found out for sure, all the v8s colorados got 799 heads on the 5.3s, so im gonna find another set of heads, have them built, ported and polished, get me a cam, and call it good until something happens to it and the 6.2 goes in,

reason im getting a set of extra heads, extra insurance, lol

oh yea, ive got a 2001 6.0 on the way for the blazer, what do yall suggest for it?

l92 heads? or call one of these fine companies on here, like texas speed, and let them set me up w/ something? i may also put a procharger on it as well, if i see that i have enough room,

6.0+s10=no room at all, lol
