2000 Formula WS6 questions.
Im looking for a Trans Am WS6 local to NJ, but while searching I found a 2000 Pontiac Firebird Formula WS6 6 Speed.
details from seller are as follows:
109,000 miles! T-Tops (they don't leak). Regular Oil changes & maintenance every 3,000 miles. Just flushed the Coolant system and replaced thermostat. Car is a rare Gold Metallic with Black leather Interior. WS-6 Package! Exterior and Interior are in excellent condition. Full SLP Exhaust & SLP Air Box Lid.
Hes asking $7500 but is negotiable on price.
This sounds like a decent price for such a rare car, and its almost a bone stock car which Im also happy about. I know 2000 was the last year of Formula WS6's and there werent very many of these built.
My questions are... How much are these cars worth? How good of a deal is this?

I just requested the vin from him, so i can look into it.
I have access to GM Dealerworld which will allow me to type in the VIN and check out all of the options on the vehicle and all of the service records.
If its the real deal Im definatly going to pick it up

Not to be a downer, but wrong, wrong, and wrong again. A 100K+ mileage F-body will not rise in value unless you pick it up for so cheap that there is no other direction to go. Buy it because you want it, not as a potential money maker.

im buying it because I want it but its a highly optioned formula ws6. There's not too many of them around so wouldn't u think it would be worth a little more then one of the millions of trans am ws6's out there. And there's really no need to get all harsh about it. I'm just asking questions.

Sorry, not being harsh, just making my post crystal clear. Too many folks buy cars thinking, "WOW, what a steal, I'll make some $$ on this." Couldn't be further from the truth. Highly optioned or not, the car you are thinking about buying will not go up in value. In 25-30 years if you restore it?? Maybe, even probably. I could fill this entire page with personal history and experiences with 'collector' cars. I try to share that info with many on this site. You don't have to believe me, but at least I got your attention. Good luck with the car if you buy it.

For $6500, you cant go wrong. I paid double that almost 5 years ago when these cars held their value. Throw another $2000 into suspension/motor work and you'll have a very fun and fast car. Whats funny is that everyone knows what a Trans Am is, even a WS6, but when you tell them you have a Formula WS6, I get this dumb deer caught in the headlights stare.
IMO, if it drives good and feels good, go for it and don't look back.

There was a SGM 98 Formula 6 speed in NJ when I bought mine. It was 108k on it with grey cloth, all stock for $5000. If that color interests you at all it was on craigslist in Sewell NJ. GLWYS
