Default I've always wanted a T/A WS6 6spd

Some background, I'm 21, in college, work part time, have a modded truck, etc.

But I've always loved the look of TAs and always wanted one. I modded my truck to make it much quicker than stock, but the more I drive it the slower it feels. I've recently really started to want to drive something else, especially after getting a beater car from my sister (97 Honda Accord). Although the Honda is slower than ****, it's low to the ground, handles nicely, and is easy to drive. Now that I'm getting used to not driving a truck all the time, it would make going to a car much easier IMO.

Anyways, what does a decent, lower mileage (under 100K miles), stock or close to stock, 6spd, WS6 package TA go for in Texas? I know I could look on craigslist or Autotrader, but I'd rather get your opinion on what it's true worth would be so I know a good place to start offers. The truck and the honda are both paid off, but I'm not sure if it would be a smart decision to get rid of two paid off vehicles for a TA.

And what's the reliability like with F-bodies? I've heard some say they rattle to pieces and weren't built to high quality standards, and I've heard others say they're really nice. Will I be upgrading or downgrading going from a 2000 Silverado to a 98-02 TA based on the quality of manufacturing? The truck is obviously built to be stronger, but I feel that the interior and overall build of the truck is pretty good.

Thanks, and let me know if I'm asking the wrong questions.

Got my 02 35th anniversary SS 6spd with 58k for $6500.

Just have to look, there are some nice SS's on right now, felt my Trans Am was a lot nicer than the SS's I had.

I got mine 2002 a year ago with 45k for 11k, full bolt on, cammed, suspension. But the prices to me seem to be falling pretty good. To me mine feels like a beast build wise, I had a 2000 silverado as well and the interior is much better imo but overall similar build quality.

Take your time and find a nice clean STOCK, better chance of being ragged on, t/a. I got mine right above 10k and it has 53k miles on it and it's clean. However, my major problem was wanting a fbody early on and I was looking at ****. 2000$ camaros with knocking engines and crappy interiors. Hell I was even two steps away from getting a $700 crappy third gen. Now people forced me to have patience and I am very glad they forced me to wait. Also its american made so it will not have a very sturdy interior compared to an import. Just take good care of it inside and out and you can have a very valuable, no not monetary wise, car.

dude.
keep the truck.
sell/trade the honda for the T/A.
you will miss the utility of the truck when you need to pick something up or move something or just drive in the shitty weather. especially if it floods.

and its not just cuz its an import. if you had a toyota truck, and a chevy cobalt, id still say keep the truck.

probably between $8 and $11k for lower then, say, 80k miles in great condition.
I agree that you will miss the truck. Sell the accord and buy the TA and you will be sooo happy.
I was about your age when i bought my second fbody/first trans am. I was on cloud nine and cocky like a **** haha. Sold it early 09 and bought a c6, and i regret it. There was nothing like the trans am. Ill have another one as soon as my house is finished.

Just take care of it and it will last. Keep an eye on your oil changes and make a good friend at the inspection shop

the best part are the meets and cruises! super fun! Looks liek you have been on here for a while so i dont have to say that the LS1 is not just a car...(as he lifts his sunglasses)...its a lifestyle **Q burning rubber sound**

Where's the best/safest place to look for a decent T/A? I looked at autotrader the prices were ridiculous

Just check out car dealerships? Or would I be better off trying to find a private seller? Craigslist?

Dealers will *** rape you with pricing. Just search craigslist until you find what you want, it will rarely fall into your lap and you will have to search a while to find the right one.

I bought my 01 WS6 this summer and it took two solid months of searching this site, autotrader and craigslist. The WS6 I actually bought from Autotrader. Yes, most of the cars are way overpriced, but everyone once in awhile there's a good car.

IMO I would definitely buy from a private seller. You avoid all the dealership fees and can usually know more about the car's history.

Good luck!
