Rich Porter Technology Optispark? anybody ever used one? can get them at oreillys. turns out mine went kaputt and im looking for a quality oem style replacement.

surely there has to be something out there that'll work well other than the $7XX ***-raping that is ac-delco optisparks? maybe i'll try it and work on getting the stuff for the ltcc setup

The LTCC won't do you much good either, because you still need the working low and high resolution pulses from the optical sensor (i.e. you still need an opti - it is NOT an opti delete kit).
Not sure where you're getting optis for $700 - there are several sources where you can acquire them for around $300-$350.
You can try the MSD if you want, but there is NO significant benefit over a stock one. If you're willing to shell out $700 though, I'd go with the Dynaspark.

only reason i was looking into the oreilly opti was because i could get it today. classes start back up in a week and i work so im trying to get this out of the way asap.

I took the plunge. So far its been good. After I bought it I found more and more people that have them without a problem. I even took mine to the track this weekend, it seen about 6800 rpm without a hiccup, and been seeing 6000- 6500 daily lol.

Look at Chandler's threads about trying to get the Mitsubishi reluctors. Mitsubishi reluctors are the best on the market, and only AC Delco opti's have them. Mitsu won't deal with him, because they're only wanting to deal with the "big fish" of industry. So Chandler Opti does NOT have the same reluctor as Delco.
It is possible that the housing/case of the reluctor and sensor may be from the same manufacturer, thus having the same part number. But the stuff that actually performs the function...very different

Look at Chandler's threads about trying to get the Mitsubishi reluctors. Mitsubishi reluctors are the best on the market, and only AC Delco opti's have them.
