A quality OEM replacement is AC Delco, and nothing else.

The LTCC won't do you much good either, because you still need the working low and high resolution pulses from the optical sensor (i.e. you still need an opti - it is NOT an opti delete kit).

Not sure where you're getting optis for $700 - there are several sources where you can acquire them for around $300-$350.

You can try the MSD if you want, but there is NO significant benefit over a stock one. If you're willing to shell out $700 though, I'd go with the Dynaspark.

any chance u could pm me these places? im willing to shell out 300ish for an opti no problem. 700 is list price from gm, might try gmparts direct i think theirs was 380 plus shipping and core.

only reason i was looking into the oreilly opti was because i could get it today. classes start back up in a week and i work so im trying to get this out of the way asap.

I still think Jason Cromer has some of the best pricing available. There are a few links here:

http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#GM_parts

Also, Pace Performance carries them for under $400, while Amazon occasionally has the venteds for around $300, like this: http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-110403.../dp/B000EQL0XQ

Lots of options!

^ This.
I took the plunge. So far its been good. After I bought it I found more and more people that have them without a problem. I even took mine to the track this weekend, it seen about 6800 rpm without a hiccup, and been seeing 6000- 6500 daily lol.

I think mine was $134 shipped, for my beater car it was hard to match that price. Autozone cap and rotor was $120...

I took mine apart. Looks well built. Even had the same part number on the reluctor wheel (or whatever you call it) as a AC delco spare I took apart at the sametime.

^ BS.

Look at Chandler's threads about trying to get the Mitsubishi reluctors. Mitsubishi reluctors are the best on the market, and only AC Delco opti's have them. Mitsu won't deal with him, because they're only wanting to deal with the "big fish" of industry. So Chandler Opti does NOT have the same reluctor as Delco.

It is possible that the housing/case of the reluctor and sensor may be from the same manufacturer, thus having the same part number. But the stuff that actually performs the function...very different

actually he's talking about the mitsu optical sensor, not the reluctor. unless i'm an idiot and thinking the reluctor and sensor are 2 different things. never had an opti apart.
