Default Oil pressure question 98' trans am ls1

I have a bone stock 98 ls1 and I was curious about what my oil pressure should be. At cold start up I'm around 50-60psi warm driving it doesn't go above 45psi and at warm idle it bounces at around 28-30 psi. I've read that the ls1 oil pumps are a common problem but haven't been able to find normal psi listings. Any info would be greatly appreciated and sorry if this is a re-post.

I'm no expert in this area but I have a 2000 Formula and my oil pressure is similar to yours, start up it goes to 60psi, at idle it hangs around 25psi. I was told by a friend that GM did not want the engine to hold 50-60 at idle so they made it that way on purpose. Other things that could effect the pressure would be, rings, the oil you use such as the 5W30 and the temperature in the area you live. I'm in Florida so I went to a 10W40. It brought it up a little at idle. Mine also uses a good bit of oil, about a quart in every 700 miles. Engine was rebuilt 7K miles ago.

Damn! Are you sure you don't have a leak??? Look under the car! My 91 Ford Ranger with a rear main seal leak needed a quart every 2-3 months, by that time it was almost time to change the oil.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong but if there's no leak, something is wrong!

Is it an A4 or M6? The A4's idle at a lower RPM and therefore have less idle oil pressure. My 98 TA A4 is even lower...on a hot day warmed up it will idle at 18-20 psi with 5W30 oil. Wrote in on the topic before...on 98-00's with A4's that's completely normal from what I hear.

Mine does the same, about half way between the first hash mark and the 40psi line, which I guess is 30ish psi. It does hit 55-60psi under heavy load/wot though.

When cold it rides 40 idle, 60 under load. This is a '99 Formula with 110k miles.
