can i get rid of my spare for good?
I was wondering if I can get rid of my spare and jack for good and instead use the 'puncture sealer/air filler' in a can deal (do those really work?)

if we get lazy enough, we just put the spare tire and jack in the car where ever it will go, especially want to have it available on long trips, so dont just get rid of it, it might come in handy one of these days.

I'll be running a set of Firestone Firehawk SZ250's on my Studebaker when it's finished (same sizes as used on C-4 Corvettes).

The can tire fillers are also a pain. The build a bunch of gunk inside your tire. After you use it, you will never be able to keep that tire balanced because that 'gunk' floats inside the tire.

what are the chances of a blowout on decent (not the best) Z rated tires?
i had cheapest i could find H rated tires on my old MR2 and took it up to 115mph or so for more then 5 miles and had a slow blowout....where i guess the H rating really does mean something....but only one of the tires failed....but it just started to leak air to the point that i could tell something was wrong so i pulled over....
the tires were too hot to touch...scary....but Z tires should fare much better right?

Blowouts on a top of the line 5000$ z rated tire can happen. If you were to hit a curb or a pot hole in the right way you will weaken the tire witch can lead to a blow out. I do not run a spare in my car. I figure if I got a flat in the rear in the time it would take to jack up the car change the spare to the rear. jack up the front change the flat to the front jack up the back put the good tire on the front then jack the front up and put the spare back on, I can either be towed home or have a full size spare from home delivered if im close. On trips I do take a full size. my next set will be runflats though.

even with the spare in the car, i keep a fullsize one at home, for convience.
I had a blowout last spring break, on my way to spring break nationals..... needless to say, i did not make it there, cause of it sucked.
so now, i keep a fullsize spare around, and a spare in my car.
Ryan.
